While I am sure that all of us
deserve a salute
there are four
who have earned special recognition.

Judith
who has won the Rat Race
and can now find the time
to do the things she has put off
for years.

Doug and Celine
who have found enduring love
overcoming darkness
and rising from the ashes of a past.

Lynn
who has sent a new flock of poems
out to flitter
and fly.

Mara
who has conquered
an alien language
and wrestled impossible syntax.

And, again to all,
for not letting the turkeys
get our goat.
