Very Simple Guides - trying to make your life a little less complicated one day at a time. The guides, in booklet and video forms, are designed as an aid to people in recovery or seekers on a rocky path. They will hopefully serve as visual meditations for folks who need to take a deep breath. More is being revealed. Please go to http://verysimpleguides.com for more information. I now have more than 50 booklets available - there is most likely one which fits you.

Powerless - the beginning

This is an easy one!
After all, you know that already
right?
well,
maybe not.

Congratulations!

While I am sure that all of us
deserve a salute
there are four
who have earned special recognition.

Judith
who has won the Rat Race
and can now find the time
to do the things she has put off
for years.

Doug and Celine
who have found enduring love
overcoming darkness
and rising from the ashes of a past.

Lynn
who has sent a new flock of poems
out to flitter
and fly.

Mara
who has conquered
an alien language
and wrestled impossible syntax.

And, again to all,
for not letting the turkeys
get our goat.
Be sure to click on photos for full impact.

The end of projection

The end of projection - is the exit from
the world of worry
and
passing through
the doorway into
Today.

Tomorrow
will come soon enough
and when it does...

we will play in the fields
of powerlessness
for that helps keep today
right sized.

Take time to play

Today is a gift
play with it.

Or above your head.

there it is.
What more do you need?

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Finding wonders at your feet.

I do not pretend to understand
how it works
but very often
I will find just what I need
often without knowing
I needed it.

Turning things around.

New perspectives
are like
looking out a different window
and discovering
there is a garden out back.

Something so simple - it is very easy to forget.

Not
When.

Not
Then.

What is it that mothers say to a soothe a crying child?

"Now, now."

Rain

I have been trying to predict the weather
for the past couple of days
to know what to do about the show
on Sunday.
It is a lesson in powerlessness
and, I keep reminding myself,
rain is the source of all life.

Going out on a limb

Clinging to the trunk
provides only
a view of bark.

From one flake to another

if you are a flake
make the most of it.
Spread your crystalline wings
and drift
Visions of igloos
and even glaciers
are not beyond your reach.

It really is this simple.

worst thing that can happen is, someone will ask,
"what are you so happy about?"
Then you get to tell them.

An early entry because I'll be on the water tomorrow

There is a good chance it will not rain
so we're going to explore a new (to us) marsh
how about that!

A final piece of logic to drive home the point.

So where do you go from here?
What to do with all the time and energy this frees up?
More will be revealed.

It is easy to see in others.

This applies to many things
and pointless worry is an easy one to spot.
In others.

For ourselves, it is often hard to tell
the real
(that we will live our lives and never win the Nobel prize - disappointing our mothers)

from
the imagined
(that everyone, whether we know them or not,
thinks we are stupid, socially incompetent, and
a bad person because we have disappointed our mothers so.)

No worries, mate.

Think of worry as an optional add - on
like the protection plan
they always offer you
when you buy something today.

Those are designed to eliminate worry
(or so they say)
but instead you worry
that you will lose the slip,
you'll break it in a way
that isn't covered,
or that whatever
won't break before the protection ends
and you will have wasted the money.

Watch me worry.

Today I have chosen to worry about
ice cream.
That's right.
Think of it - there is a massive amount of ice cream produced every day
if it is not eaten it will pile up
and could eventually become a glacier
altering the landscape
causing the earth to wobble in its rotation
and who knows
even causing a rain of cherries!

You know what you have to do.

What me worry?

If I were to worry I would pick something amazing!
to worry about - for example
genetic engineering going bad in a lab somewhere
causing woolly mammoths take to the streets
causing a massive traffic jam
as they rush through the countryside
in search of romaine lettuce.

Tomorrow is here!

Oone of the nice things about getting up very early
is being able to get a
running start
on what was tomorrow
just a little while ago.

As always you can click on the page above to enlarge it.

Stay tuned
for
tomorrow.

Today is the day you anticpated yesterday

I am back from my journey
which was a series of wonders
with a liberal sprinkling of joy.

Tomorrow will bring
another installment.

A loon a day...

They are such wonderful birds.
and the sounds they make!
Today I am grateful for all the loons in my life.

On vacation

click to make the loon larger.

Today was beautiful - the black flies are gone
and the loons were out
in and out of kayaks.

will return to projection soon enough.

Tomorrow - I am going on vacation

Today I pack.
Interesting question is it projection to pack a raincoat?
what about the Kayak?
More will be revealed.
