Very Simple Guides - trying to make your life a little less complicated one day at a time. The guides, in booklet and video forms, are designed as an aid to people in recovery or seekers on a rocky path. They will hopefully serve as visual meditations for folks who need to take a deep breath. More is being revealed. Please go to http://verysimpleguides.com for more information. I now have more than 50 booklets available - there is most likely one which fits you.

Finale

Laughter has the power to overcome the strongest weapons your dis-ease
will throw at you. It allows you to see through the lies, to disbelieve
the slanders and to understand that it is ok to be human.
Not only ok
but normal -

I'll bet nobody has called you that lately.

HA!

A clarification

I was unclear - my metaphor tripped on its untied shoelaces.

by leaving things the way they are - I meant
not digging a very deep tunnel so that we can get the world to revolve around us.
In such a tunnel it would be dark and hot and even wet if you count magma as a liquid.

Thinking the world revolves around you - or that it should

Ah but there is a rub!
If the world revolves around us
we've got to be
way underground where it is
dark and hot.

Maybe things are best the way they are.

Get over being embarassed

Pretending we are perfect - that everything is fine can get us into a lot of trouble
especially when we start to believe it. You can only be embarrassed
if you let shame have its way with you.

Take a deep breath

Even though it is a generalization to say that generalizations are risky - it remains a fact
that very often - a smile - is the next right thing to do.
What more do you need to know?

Acknowledging our beauty

Is it humility -
or remnants of congenital low self esteem
which keeps us from
accepting and enjoying
the beauty which lies inside us all?

Blurred vision

Our Vision is often blurred by the certainty
that everybody will see things the way we do.
Yesterday I was reminded that this is not
always so. I need to pick myself up and move on
finding time to chuckle at the hole I had dug my self
with the shovel of expectations.

What do you have in common with penguins and kangaroos?

In their own right penguins and kangaroos are supremely well adapted to their environments. So can you be when you figure out how not to trip on your tail.

The sooner you see the humor in something

The less time you spend at risk of saying or doing something even less funny.

A photo interlude

Birds - especially pelicans, are humorous. Until you see them fly - that's when the awe kicks in.

Laughter is contageous

Finding a balance is difficult, but on the whole you can't go too wrong by not taking things personally. For example today I finished fixing the roof on the shed. the Bear owes me 199 dollars and a day's labor. Somehow I doubt I'll collect.

Into the main course.

By doing this a page a day - or that is the good intention -
I now see the booklets take a few pages to get into the
heart of the matter. This was not planned - it evolved very quickly
and because it worked I have stuck with it. The "if it ain't broke don't fix it" maxim
has been paramount and for now it will stay that way - besides with 50 books up on the website
- a milestone reached yesterday- it would be a lot of fixin.

Now that we are dry and warm again

What we need is Getting in you own way awareness week.

Most likely this is also something you were warned about as a child. But probably the lessons were not so clear as coming in out of the rain. There are many ways to get in your own way. Taking yourself too seriously is at the core of many of them.

As if you did not have enough to worry about

FROM NOAA...
This is severe weather awareness week...

The National Weather Service in partnership with several
agencies... including the NY state disaster preparedness
commission... is promoting severe weather safety for all people.

We can either make this complicated or you can do what they tried to teach you as a child

COME IN OUT OF THE RAIN.

Fear not the next piece of be happy follows.
